Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
One who precedes in supplication [prays frequently and not just when in trouble] his supplication is answered when a calamity befalls him, and the angels say: "This voice is familiar to us and is not veiled from reaching the heaven." In contrast, one who does not precede in supplication [and only remembers Allah in times of hardship], his supplication is not answered when a disaster strikes him and the angels say: "We do not recognize this voice."

Imam al-Kazim (as):
I urge you to supplicate, for verily supplication to Allah and seeking from Allah repels calamity which may have been destined and decreed with just the execution remaining, so if Allah is supplicated and is asked to avert a calamity, it is averted.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
There are two types of patience: Patience in the face of a calamity, which no doubt is praiseworthy and beautiful, but better than that is when someone resists the temptation of committing what God Almighty has prohibited.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Imam Ali (as):
If people were to fear and return to their Lord when calamities befall them and blessings are taken away from them, returning with truth in their intentions, and reverence in their hearts, He would return to them every runaway and loss, and correct for them every corrupted matter.
