Our 3rd Imam, Imam Husain (A) was the second son of Imam Ali (A) and Lady Fatima (A). When he was born, the Prophet (S) was very happy and rushed to see him. He named him Husain by the command of Allah. The Prophet (S) recited the Adhan in the right ear and the lqamah in the left ear of the Imam (A). When the Imam (A) was born, Allah sent down the angel Jibra'eel to congratulate our Prophet (S) and his family.

On the way down from the heavens angel Jibra'eel passed an island, on which an angel called Fitrus lived. Fitrus had been sent there by Allah because he had been naughty. Fitrus had also had his wings taken away by Allah. He had been praying on this island for years and asking Allah for His forgiveness. When Fitrus saw Jibra'eel, he asked him where he was going. Jibra'eel told him that he was going to congratulate the Prophet (S) and his family on the birth of the Imam (A). Fitrus asked Jibra'eel if he would carry him, so that he could along go with him. With the permission of Allah, Jibra'eel agreed to do so, and the two angels arrived at the home of Prophet Muhammad (S).

When the angels reached the Prophet (S) and congratulated him and his family, Fitrus came forward and explained What had happened to him. The Prophet (S) told Fitrus to go to Imam Husain (A). He said, "Touch the body of the new-born child and return to your place in Heaven." When Fitrus touched the Imam (A) his wings were given back to him by Allah, Who had forgiven him! In delight, the angel sped back to the Heavens, praising the Prophet (S) and his newly-born grandson. 1

A hadith from the Imam

Imam Hussain has said in the supplication of Arafa:

(Oh Allah) How could an argument be given about your Existence by a thing whose total & complete existence is in need of you?
Is it that the manifestation of other than you is such that the like (manifestation) is not present in you, so that the one other than you becomes a clear evidence (expression) of your presence? When did you ever disappear so that you might need an evidence & logic to lead (the people) towards you? And when did you ever become away & take distance so that your signs & effects make the people get in touch with you? Blind be the eye which does not see you (Whereas) you are observing him. (Prayer of Arafaa day i.e 9th of Zilhaaj). 2
