الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
لِيَجتَمِعْ في قَلبِكَ الافتِقارُ إلَى النّاسِ، و الاستِغناءُ عَنهُم، يَكونُ افتِقارُكَ إلَيهِم في لينِ كَلامِكَ و حُسنِ بِشرِكَ، و يَكونُ استِغناؤكَ عَنهُم في نَزاهَةِ عِرضِكَ و بَقاءِ عِزِّكَ.

Let your heart include both need for people as well as needlessness of them – your need for them being in order to speak kind words to them and to treat them cheerfully, and your needlessness of them being in order to maintain your integrity and to preserve your self-respect.

Abū Jaʿfar, Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb b. Isḥāq al-Kulaynī Al-Rāzī (Arabic: ابوجعفر، محمّد بن یعقوب بن اسحاق الرازی) (c. 255/868-9 - 329/941) was among the greatest Shi'a hadith scholars and the author of al-Kafi, the most authentic Shi'a hadith collection and one the Four Books. He was born after the martyrdom of Imam al-'Askari (a), at the time of Imam al-Mahdi (a) and met some hadith transmitters who directly had heard hadiths from Imam al-Hadi (a) and Imam al-'Askari (a). It is said that al-Kulayni was very accurate in transmitting hadiths. Ibn Qulawayh, Muhammad b. Ali Majilawayh al-Qummi, Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Zurari were among his students.

Mūsā al-Qummī (Arabic:ابوجعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسی القمي) (b. after 305/917-8 — d. 381/991-2), commonly known as al-Shaykh al-Ṣaduq (Arabic: الشيخ الصدوق), or Ibn Babawayh (Arabic: ابن‌ بابويه), was one of the greatest Shi'a hadith scholars of the 4th/10th century the most prominent hadith scholar and faqih of the hadith school of Qom. Up to 300 scholarly works have been attributed to him, most of which are not extant today. He has compiled the Man la yahduruh al-faqih, one of the Four Books of the Shi'a.Al-Saduq began teaching and narrating hadith from a young age, and continued to do so during his travels. He had many students, and many scholars narrate hadith on his authority. Some of his famous students are Al-Sharif al-Murtada, al-Shaykh al-Mufid and al-Talla'ukbari. He is buried in Rey.
