إِنَّ الْمُجَاهِدَ نَفْسَهُ وَ الْمُغَالِبَ غَضَبَهُ وَ الْمُحَافِظَ عَلَى طَاعَةِ رَبِّهِ يَرْفَعُ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ لَهُ ثَوَابَ الصَّائِمِ الْقَائِمِ وَ يُنِيلُهُ دَرَجَةَ الْمُرَابِطِ الصَّابِرِ.

Imam Ali (as):

One who struggles against his self, overcomes his anger and adheres to obeying his Lord, God will grant him the reward of one who fasts during the day and stands in worship in the night and will make him reach the rank of those who patiently guard the frontiers [of the Islamic lands].
