WHY DID IMAM HUSSAIN RISED AGAINST YAZID?

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

الغَضَبُ مَمْحَقةٌ لقَلبِ الحكيمِ ، و مَن لم يَمْلِكْ غَضَبَهُ لَم يَمْلِكْ عَقلَهُ .

Anger is a destroyer of the wise man's heart, whoever cannot control his anger will not be able to control his intellect.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

في التَّوراةِ مَكتوبٌ : يَا بنَ آدمَ، تَفَرَّغْ لِعِبادَتي أملَأْ قلبَكَ غِنىً، و لا أكِلْكَ إلى طلَبِكَ ، و عَلَيَّ أن أسُدَّ فاقَتَكَ و أملَأَ قلبَكَ خَوفا مِنّي، و إن لا تَفَرَّغْ لِعِبادَتي أملَأْ قلبَكَ شُغلاً بالدُّنيا ثُمّ لا أسُدُّ فاقَتَكَ، وَ أكِلُكَ إلى طَلَبِكَ .

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

إِنَّ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَرَثَةُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَ ذَاكَ أَنَّ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ لَمْ يُورِثُوا دِرْهَماً وَ لَا دِينَاراً وَ إِنَّمَا أَوْرَثُوا أَحَادِيثَ مِنْ أَحَادِيثِهِمْ فَمَنْ أَخَذَ بِشَيْ‏ءٍ مِنْهَا فَقَدْ أَخَذَ حَظّاً وَافِراً فَانْظُرُوا عِلْمَكُمْ هَذَا عَمَّنْ تَأْخُذُونَهُ فَإِنَّ فِينَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ فِي كُلِّ خَلَفٍ عُدُولًا يَنْفُونَ عَنْهُ تَحْرِيفَ الْغَالِينَ وَ انْتِحَالَ الْمُبْطِلِينَ وَ تَأْوِيلَ الْجَاهِلِينَ.

رأيتُ عِند أبي عبدِ اللّهِ عليه السلام ضَيفا، فقامَ يَوما في بعضِ الحَوائج، فنَهاهُ عن ذلكَ، وقامَ بنفسِهِ إلى تلك الحاجَةِ، وقالَ عليه السلام: نَهى رسولُ اللّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله عَن أن يُستَخدَمَ الضَّيفُ.

ذَكَرَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع الْأَغْنِيَاءَ وَ وَقَعَ فِيهِمْ فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع اسْكُتْ فَإِنَّ الْغَنِيَّ إِذَا كَانَ وَصُولًا لِرَحِمِهِ بَارّاً بِإِخْوَانِهِ أَضْعَفَ اللَّهُ لَهُ الْأَجْرَ ضِعْفَيْنِ لِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ وَ ما أَمْوالُكُمْ وَ لا أَوْلادُكُمْ بِالَّتِي تُقَرِّبُكُمْ عِنْدَنا زُلْفى‏ إِلَّا مَنْ آمَنَ وَ عَمِلَ صالِحاً فَأُولئِكَ لَهُمْ جَزاءُ الضِّعْفِ بِما عَمِلُوا وَ هُمْ فِي الْغُرُفاتِ آمِنُون‏.
