أَ لاَ أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَشْبَهِكُمْ بِي قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ، قَالَ أَحْسَنُكُمْ خُلُقاً وَ أَلْيَنُكُمْ كَنَفاً وَ أَبَرُّكُمْ بِقَرَابَتِهِ وَ أَشَدُّكُمْ حُبّاً لِإِخْوَانِهِ فِي دِينِهِ وَ أَصْبَرُكُمْ عَلَى اَلْحَقِّ وَ أَكْظَمُكُمْ لِلْغَيْظِ وَ أَحْسَنُكُمْ عَفْواً وَ أَشَدُّكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ إِنْصَافاً فِي اَلرِّضَا وَ اَلْغَضَبِ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
The Prophet once asked his companions, ‘Shall I inform you who amongst you resemble me the most?’ They replied, ‘Yes O Messenger of Allah.' He then said, ‘They are those who are the best of you in character, the most lenient of you in their treatment of others, the kindest of you to their near ones, the most loving of you towards their fellow brothers, the most patient of you with the truth, those who are the best in restraining their anger and pardoning others, and the ones who best maintain fairness when pleased or angered.'

اصْبِرْ عَلَى مَضَضِ مَرَارَةِ الْحَقِّ وَ إِيَّاكَ أَنْ تَنْخَدِعَ لِحَلَاوَةِ الْبَاطِلِ .
Imam Ali (as):
Be patient with the pain caused by the bitterness of the truth, and beware of being deluded by the sweetness of falsehood.

Neighbourliness is not only to desist from annoying [one's neighbour], but also to forbear annoyance [from him].

Verily Allah, Mighty and Exalted, is lenient and loves leniency, and He gives for leniency what He doe’s not give for harshness.

لا يَزالُ المُؤمِنُ بِخَيرٍ و رَجاءَ رَحمَةٍ مِنَ اللّهِ ما لَم يَستَعجِلْ فَيَقنَطُ وَ يَترُكُ الدُّعاءَ . قُلتُ لَهُ : كَيفَ يَستَعجِلُ ؟ قالَ : يَقولُ : قَد دَعَوتُ مُنذُ كَذا و كَذا و ما أرَى الإجابَةَ !
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The believer continues to remain in goodness, comfort, and mercy from Allah as long as he doe’s not seek a hasty response [to his supplication], doe's not despair and abandon supplication as a consequence of his despair'. The Imam was asked, 'How does he hasten?', to which he (as) replied, 'He says, 'I have supplicated since such and such a time and I do not yet see an answer.

إنَّ العَبدَ إذا دَعا لَم يَزَلِ اللّهُ تَبارَكَ وَ تَعالى في حاجَتِهِ ما لَم يَسْتَعجِلْ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When someone supplicates to Allah, Allah is constantly working to grant his need as long as he doe’s not seek a quick and hasty response.

جاءَ جَبرَئيلُ عليه السلام إلى النَّبيِّ صلى الله عليه و آله فَقالَ : يا مُحمَّدُ ، رَبُّكَ يُقْرِئُكَ السَّلامَ وَ يَقولُ لكَ : دارِ خَلْقِي .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The archangel Gabriel descended to the Prophet (s) and told him, 'O Muhammad, verily your Lord extends salutations on you and says, 'Be amicable towards My servants.'
