الإمام محمد الباقر (عليه السَّلام):
علَيكُم بِالوِضّاءِ مِن الظُّؤورَةِ؛ فإنّ اللَّبَن يُعدِي .
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
You must get beautiful wet-nurses to suckle your child, for verily the milk has an effect [on the child].

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
اُنظُرُوا مَن تُرضِعُ أولادَكُم؛ فإنّ الوَلَدَ يَشِبُّ علَيهِ .
Imam Ali (as):
Take into account who it is that suckles your children, for verily this is what a child grows on.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
إنّا نأمُرُ صِبيانَنا بِالصِّيامِ إذا كانوا بَني سَبعِ سِنينَ بما أطاقُوا مِن صِيامِ اليَومِ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
We (i.e. Ahl al-Bayt) enjoin our children to fast when they reach seven years old as much as they can bear it.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):
الوَلَدُ الصّالِحُ رَيحانَةٌ مِن اللّهِ ، قَسَمَها بَينَ عِبادِهِ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
A righteous child is an aromatic plant from Allah which He has distributed to His servants.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):
إنّ الوَلدَ الصّالِحَ رَيحانَةٌ مِن رَياحِينِ الجَنَّةِ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
إنّ اللّهَ عَزَّ و جلَّ لَيَرحَمُ العَبدَ لِشِدَّةِ حُبِّهِ لِوَلَدِهِ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Verily, Allah bestows His mercy on a servant because of his strong love for his child.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):
مَن قَبَّلَ وَلدَهُ كَتَبَ اللّهُ عَزَّ و جلَّ لَهُ حَسَنَةً ، و مَن فَرَّحَهُ فَرَّحَهُ اللّهُ يَومَ القِيامَةِ ، و مَن عَلَّمَهُ القرآنَ دُعِيَ بالأبَوَينِ فيُكسَيانِ حُلَّتَينِ يُضيءُ مِن نُورِهِما وُجُوهُ أهلِ الجَنَّةِ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Whoever kisses his child, Allah, Mighty and Exalted, writes a reward for him, and whoever makes his child happy Allah will make him happy on the day of Judgment, and whoever teaches his child the Quran, his parents will be summoned [on the day of Judgment] and dressed with a dresses whose light will shine upon the people of Paradise.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
إنَّ فُلانا ـ رجُلٌ سَمّاهُ ـ قالَ : إنّي كُنتُ زاهِدا في الوَلَدِ حتّى وَقَفتُ بِعَرَفَةَ ، فإذا إلى جانِبي غُلامٌ شابٌّ يَدعو و يَبكي و يَقولُ : يا ربِّ والِدَيَّ والِدَيَّ ، فَرَغَّبَني في الوَلَدِ حِينَ سَمِعتُ ذلكَ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Someone once said, “I was reluctant to have a child until I stopped at Arafa [when performing Hajj], suddenly I heard a young boy crying and praying for his parents saying: My Lord, [forgive] my parents, my parents. And it was such a moment that mede me long for a child.”

مِن سَعادَةِ الرّجُلِ أن يَكونَ لَهُ الوَلَدُ يَعرِفُ فيهِ شِبهَهُ : خَلقَهُ ، و خُلقَهُ ، و شَمائلَهُ .
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
It is part of a man’s prosperity that he has a child wherein he can see his own likeness: in his looks, his character, and his virtues.

الإمام السّجاد (عليه السَّلام):
مِن سَعادَةِ الرّجُلِ أن يَكونَ لَهُ وُلْدٌ يَستَعينُ بِهِم .
Imam al-Sajjad (as):
It is part of a man’s prosperity that he has offspring who can be an aid to him.
