Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): He who commits a sin and knows that Allah is aware of the offence he has committed and that if He wishes to punish him, He can do so and if He wishes to forgive him, He can do so, Allah will forgive him even if he does not [verbally] ask for forgiveness. al-Kāfī
