Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): I have come to learn that the act of common courtesy is not completed unless through three features: deeming it insignificant, concealing it, and rushing to do it immediately; when you view it as little, you have made great in the eyes of the one you have done good to, when you conceal it, you have perfected it, and when you rush to do it, you have made it sweet, otherwise, [if you don’t do any of that], you will have rendered it worthless and bitter. al-Kāfī
