Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): Friendship has certain conditions and bounds and he who does not observe them cannot be considered a perfect friend… The first of those conditions is that his inner and his outer are the same for you, and the second is that your source of pride is a source of pride for him, and your source of shame is a source of shame for him.
