Imam Ali (as):
A scholar who conceals his knowledge [not teaching it to those who are worthy of it] will be raised on the Day of Resurrection with the most offensive smell and will be cursed by all creatures.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Knowledge is stored with those who are worthy of it and you have been ordered to seek it from them.

Imam al-Jawad (as):
Allah, mighty and Exalted, placed in every prophet’s community some knowledgeable individuals who called those who had fallen astray back to guidance and endured with them the troubles.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Some scholars believe that they should teach knowledge only to those who possess wealth and honour, deeming it as having no place among the destitute; such scholars will dwell in the third stage of the Fire.

Imam al-Hussain (as):
The disposal of affairs and implementation of rules are in the hands of theist scholars; [who are] the trustees of what has been made lawful and unlawful by Allah.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Verily the scholars are the heirs of the prophets. And that is because the prophets did not bequeath gold and silver, rather they bequeathed their words and traditions. And one who grasps any of them has indeed secured an abundant gain. See who it is you take your knowledge from; for there exists, from among us [Ahl al-Bayt] in every generation, just individuals who negate the distortions of extremists, the fabrications of falsifiers and the [false] interpretations of the ignorant ones.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Three types of people have the right to intercede with Allah, and their intercession will be accepted: the prophets, then the scholars, and then the martyrs.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Verily the parable of the scholars on the earth is that of the stars in the sky; the right way is determined through them in the darkness of land and sea, and once they disappear, the guided ones are likely to lose the way.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Regarding the following verse: "Only those fear Allah, from among His servants, who possess knowledge.", Imam al-Sadiq (as) said: By 'those who possess knowledge', Allah means those whose actions confirm their speech and whoever is not so [i.e. does not practice what he preaches] is not a knowledgeable person.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Be a scholar or a student or at least love the people of knowledge, and do not become of the fourth group or your hatred for them will destroy you.
