Imam Ali (as):
Certainly, Allah, the Sublime, has made it obligatory on true leaders that they should maintain themselves at the level of low people so that the poor are not disturbed by their poverty.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
There are three things that are the pride of a believer and his ornament in this world and the Hereafter: prayer at the end of the night [night vigil], his despair of that which others own, and his allegiance to the Imam from the progeny of Muhammad (s).

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
O Abu Basir, blessed be the followers [Shia] of our Awaited Saviour [Qaim] who wait for his appearance during his occultation, and obey him when he reappears. They are the friends of Allah who will indeed have no fear nor will they grieve.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Jabir b. Abdullah al-Ansari said, When Allah revealed the verse: "Obey Allah and obey the Apostle and those vested with authority among you..." onto His Prophet Muhammad (s) I said, O Messenger of Allah, we know Allah and His Messenger, but who are those vested with authority that Allah has associated their obedience with your obedience?
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Islam is naked, and its clothing is modesty, its adornment loyalty, its valour good deeds, and its pillars piety. Everything has a foundation, and the foundation of Islam is the love for us, the ahl al-bayt (the household of the Prophet).

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Poverty with us [i.e. our guardianship] is better than wealth with other than us, and death with us is better than life with other than us.
