Moderation

Infāq means “spending”. Spend the money you have in various affairs of life; this is infāq. Qaṣd means “moderation”. Imam says, ‘Happy is the one who spends moderately’; i.e. the one who spends his money moderately, neither excessively nor negligently. Both forms are religiously deprecated. Be moderate and spend moderately. One must neither spend excessively nor be stingy. Rather, he must spend the extra. Then, he must spend what is surplus and extra for God’s sake. He must donate the extra money to those who are needy or where there is a need.
