Imam Ali (as):
Be patient with the pain caused by the bitterness of the truth, and beware of being deluded by the sweetness of falsehood.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Paradise is surrounded by trials and patience. So whoever endures trials in the world will enter Paradise. Hell is surrounded by pleasures and desires. Thus, whoever allows himself its pleasures and desires [of the world] will enter the Fire.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Endure [the hardships and temptations of] this world, for it is no more than an hour. What has passed, you will find neither its pain nor its sorrow, and what is yet to come, you do not know what it will be like. The world is the hour in which you live; So be patient, in it, with acts of obedience to Allah, and resist against acts of disobedience to Allah.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The believer continues to remain in goodness, comfort, and mercy from Allah as long as he doe’s not seek a hasty response [to his supplication], doe's not despair and abandon supplication as a consequence of his despair'. The Imam was asked, 'How does he hasten?', to which he (as) replied, 'He says, 'I have supplicated since such and such a time and I do not yet see an answer.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When someone supplicates to Allah, Allah is constantly working to grant his need as long as he doe’s not seek a quick and hasty response.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
al-Kafi : Wassha narrates from one of the companions of Imam al-Sadiq (as) that he (as) said: ‘Verily we are very patient and our Shia are even more patient than us.’ His companion asked, ‘May I be your ransom, how can your Shia be more patient than you?’ He replied, ‘Because we are patient alongside our knowledge [of everything], whereas our Shia are patient in spite of not knowing.’

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Patience is of three types: patience in the face of an affliction, enduring an act of obedience, and restraining oneself against an act of disobedience.

Imam Ali (as):
The status of patience in one’s affairs is the same as that of the head to the body; just as the body starts to decay if the head is cut from it, likewise the affairs are ruined if patience departs from them.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Allah, Mighty and Exalted, said, 'I do not oblige my believing servant to do something unless I make it good for him; so let him be pleased with My decree, endure My trial and be thankful for My favors, and I will record him, O Muhammad, among the truthful.'

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Imam al-Baqir (as), in a letter that he wrote to Sad al-Khayr, said, 'Allah protects a servant, as a result of his God-wariness from a thing which his intellect is distant from [he cannot grasp it], and He illuminates him from blindness and ignorance as a result of his God-wariness. Noah and those with him were saved in the ark and Salih and those with him were saved from the thunderbolt on account of their God-wariness. The patient ones are victorious and those groups are saved from destruction through God-wariness.'
