الْكَرَامَةُ تُفْسِدُ مِنَ اللَّئِيمِ بِقَدْرِ (قَدْرَ) مَا تُصْلِحُ مِنَ الْكَرِيمِ.

Magnanimous treatment [and pardon] spoils a wicked person just as much as it can reform a decent person.

Imam Ali (as)

أبخل النّاس من بخل بالسّلام‏.

The most miserly person is he who is miserly with his greeting [i.e. he does not greet others].

كَفَى بِالْمَرْءِ غَفْلَةً أَنْ يَصْرِفَ هِمَّتَهُ فِيمَا لَا يَعْنِيهِ

It suffices for a man to be considered negligent if he wastes his effort in that which does not concern him.

أفضَلُ المالِ ما وُقِيَ بهِ العِرضُ، وقُضِيَت بهِ الحُقوقُ.

The best of wealth is that with which one's dignity is guarded and that through which rights are fulfilled.

الْمَسْأَلَةُ طَوْقُ الْمَذَلَّةِ تَسْلُبُ الْعَزِيزَ عِزَّهُ وَ الْحَسِيبَ حَسَبَهُ

Begging is the ring of disgrace [around one's neck]; It strips away the honor of the honorable and the lineage of the noble.

الْأَخُ الْمُكْتَسَبُ فِي اللَّهِ أَقْرَبُ الْأَقْرِبَاءِ وَ أَحَمُّ (أَرْحَمُ‏) مِنَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَ الْآبَاءِ.
