Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The believers can be distinguished through four signs: a cheerful face, a gentle tongue, a merciful heart, and a giving hand.’

:
Indeed, our followers [Shia] are only those who are consciously wary of their duty to Allah and obey Him, who are known solely for their humbleness…, taking care of their poor neighbors, the destitute, those in debt and the orphans… and [are known for] restraining their tongues from anything but good when speaking about people. And they are trusted in everything among their kinsfolk.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Pardoning is incumbent upon you, for verily pardoning [others] only increases one's honour, so pardon each other’s faults and Allah will grant you honour.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
There are three things through which Allah only increases the Muslim in honour: his pardon of one who has wronged him, his giving to the one who has deprived him, and his reconciliation with one who has cut him off.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Verily Allah, Blessed and most High, has granted the believer three privileges: honour in the world and the hereafter, prosperity in the world and the hereafter, and awe [of them] in the hearts of the oppressors.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Verily charity will bring more abundance to its donor, so give charity and Allah will have mercy on you. And verily Humbleness elevates one's status, so be humble, and Allah will raise your status. And verily pardon will increase one's honour, so do pardon and Allah will grant you honour.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
O Hisham, The Commander of the faithful used to say: God is not worshipped through anything better than the intellect, and man's intellect will not be perfect until he possesses different qualities: disbelief and evil are far from him, development and goodness are expected from him, he gives away the excess of his wealth and restrains the excess of his speech, his share from this world is that which is enough to maintain him, he is never satiated with knowledge throughout his life, and prefers lowliness when being with God to honor when being with other than Him, humbleness is more loved by him than dignity, he regards the little good done by others as being much and regards the abundance of good that he himself does as being little, he considers all people to be better than him and considers himself to be worse than them.
