Imam al-Hasan (as):
I wonder at the one who is selective about his food choices but does not care about the food for his soul, so he refrains from the types of food which are detrimental to him but allows into his heart that which will ruin him.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
Set hot food aside until it cools down, for when the Prophet (SAWA) was given hot food, he said, 'Set it aside until it cools down, for Allah, Mighty and Exalted, would not feed us fire when blessings lie with that which is cool.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
There is no medicine except that it exacerbates another ailment, and there is nothing more beneficial to the body than self-restraint from all except that which the body needs.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
I asked Imam al-Baqir (as), regarding the verse: "Then let man look at his food.", What is meant by 'his food'? He replied: It means the knowledge he acquires, [he should consider] from whom he acquires it.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
He who does not see the bounties of Allah upon himself other than in his food, drink, and clothes, falls short in his actions and his punishment draws near.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
My father [Imam Ali al-Sajjad (as)] used to say, 'The best of occupations is tilling the land, the produce of which is eaten by both the good-doer and the wrongdoer. That which the good-doer eats will seek forgiveness on his [i.e. the grower's] behalf, and that which the wrongdoer eats will curse him [i.e. the wrongdoer]. The birds and animals eat thereof too.'

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The nearest a servant can ever be to Allah is when his stomach is light, and the most hated a servant can ever be by Allah is when his stomach is filled [with food].
