رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):

رسولُ اللّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله ـ لمّا اُسرِيَ بهِ ـ : يا رَبِّ، ما حالُ المؤمِنِ عِندَكَ ؟ قالَ : يا محمّدُ .... ما يَتَقَرَّبُ إلَيَّ عَبدٌ مِن عِبادِي بشيءٍ أحَبّ إلَيَّ ممّا افتَرَضتُ علَيهِ ، و إنّهُ لَيَتقرَّبُ إلَيَّ بالنافِلَةِ حتّى اُحِبَّهُ ، فإذا أحبَبتُهُ كنتُ إذا سَمعَهُ الذي يَسمَعُ بهِ ، و بَصَرَهُ الذي يُبصِرُ بهِ ، و لِسانَهُ الذي يَنطِقُ بهِ ، و يَدَهُ التي يَبطِشُ بها ، إن دَعاني أجَبتُهُ ، و إن سَألَني أعطَيتُهُ .

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

When the prophet (s) was taken on his night journey to heavens, he said to God, 'My Lord, what is the status of the believer in Your eyes?' Allah, Mighty and Exalted, said, 'O Muhammad,... My servant can never come close to Me with something more beloved to Me than that which I have made obligatory for him, and he can come close to Me with supererogatory prayers such that I love him. And when I love him, I will become his hearing that he hears with, his sight that he sees with, his tongue that he speaks with, his hand that he strikes with. When he prays to Me, I will answer, and when he asks Me, I will give him.'

Abū Jaʿfar, Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb b. Isḥāq al-Kulaynī Al-Rāzī (Arabic: ابوجعفر، محمّد بن یعقوب بن اسحاق الرازی) (c. 255/868-9 - 329/941) was among the greatest Shi'a hadith scholars and the author of al-Kafi, the most authentic Shi'a hadith collection and one the Four Books. He was born after the martyrdom of Imam al-'Askari (a), at the time of Imam al-Mahdi (a) and met some hadith transmitters who directly had heard hadiths from Imam al-Hadi (a) and Imam al-'Askari (a). It is said that al-Kulayni was very accurate in transmitting hadiths. Ibn Qulawayh, Muhammad b. Ali Majilawayh al-Qummi, Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Zurari were among his students.
