Today in Ramadhan (16) - Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr becoming Governor of Egypt; Passing away of Sheikh al-Mudhaffar.

If I wanted to name the five most loyal companions of Imam Ali (as), Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr would definitely be one of them. Although he was the son of the first caliph, he chose the path of Imam Ali (as) and became like a son to him.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ خَلَقَ الْخَلْقَ وَ خَلَقَ مَعَهُمْ أَرْزَاقَهُمْ حَلَالًا طَيِّباً فَمَنْ تَنَاوَلَ شَيْئاً مِنْهَا حَرَاماً قُصَّ بِهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْحَلَالِ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

لا يَقبَلُ اللّهُ مِن مُؤمِنٍ عَمَلًا وهُوَ مُضمِرٌ عَلى أخيهِ المُؤمِنِ سُوءا.

God does not accept a good deed from a believer as long as he harbours ill will against a fellow believing brother.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَهُ فِي الشِّدَّةِ فَلْيُكْثِرِ الدُّعَاءَ فِي الرَّخَاءِ .

Ne who wishes for his supplication to be answered in times of hardship should increase his supplication in times of ease and comfort.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

اقْصُرْ نَفْسَكَ عَمَّا يَضُرُّهَا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تُفَارِقَكَ، وَ اسْعَ فِي فَكَاكِهَا كَمَا تَسْعى‏ فِي طَلَبِ مَعِيشَتِكَ؛ فَإِنَّ نَفْسَكَ رَهِينَةٌ بِعَمَلِك‏ .

Keep your soul away from anything that could be harmful to it before it departs your body, and strive hard to set it free just as you strive...

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

اصْبِرُوا عَلى‏ طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ، وَ تَصَبَّرُوا عَنْ‏ مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ، فَإِنَّمَا الدُّنْيَا سَاعَةٌ، فَمَا مَضى‏ فَلَسْتَ‏ تَجِدُ لَهُ سُرُوراً وَ لَاحُزْناً، وَ مَا لَمْ يَأْتِ فَلَسْتَ‏ تَعْرِفُهُ، فَاصْبِرْ عَلى‏ تِلْكَ السَّاعَةِ الَّتِي أَنْتَ فِيهَا، فَكَأَنَّكَ‏ قَدِ اغْتَبَطْتَ‏.
