Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Every single heart has two ears; at one of them stands a guiding angel, and at the other stands a deceiving devil. One commands him and the other prevents him; the devil commands him to sin and the angel prevents him from it, and that is the meaning of Allah's verse in the Quran: "When the two receivers receive, sitting on the right and on the left. Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record]."

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
God Almighty has not created any creature dearer to Him than the believer, for the angels are the servants of the believers.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Verily the angel [charged with man's deeds] rises up with man's good deeds, delighted on account of them, but as he is lifting up his good deeds, Allah tells him, 'Go and place them in the Sijjin, as he did not perform these deeds for Me.' Note: Sijjin: proper name given in the Qur'an to a written record of the evildoers' deeds.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
Verily Allah has a caller [amongst His angels] who calls out every day and night: ‘Slow down, O servants of Allah, and abstain from acts of disobedience to Allah, for were it not for the grazing animals, suckling babies and the elderly who bow down to Allah, punishment would surely pour down on you.'

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Verily a servant prays [to Allah], then Allah, Mighty and Exalted, says to the two angels [appointed for him], 'I have consented to his request, but withhold it [for a while], for I love to hear his voice.' And a servant prays to Allah, and Allah, Blessed and Most high, says, 'Be quick to give him what he wants, for I dislike to hear his voice.'

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
An angel calls out every day: "O son of Adam, reproduce [children] for death, accumulate [wealth] for annihilation, and construct for destruction."

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Every single believer has two ears in his heart; in one whispers the sneaky tempter, and in the other whispers the angel, so Allah strengthens the believer with the angel and that is the purport of the word of God: "…and strengthened them with a spirit from Him."

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
When a servant tells one lie, the angels distance themselves a mile away from him because of his foul smell [emitted from him as a result of lying].
