الإمام محمد الباقر (عليه السَّلام):

فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: يَا أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ، أَيَّ شَيْ‏ءٍ تَعْبُدُ؟ قَالَ‏: اللَّهَ تَعَالى‏ قَالَ: رَأَيْتَهُ؟ قَالَ: بَلى‏، لَمْ تَرَهُ الْعُيُونُ بِمُشَاهَدَةِ الْإِبْصَارِ، وَ لكِنْ رَأَتْهُ‏ الْقُلُوبُ بِحَقَائِقِ الْإِيمَانِ، لَايُعْرَفُ بِالْقِيَاسِ، وَ لَا يُدْرَكُ بِالْحَوَاسِّ، وَ لَا يُشَبَّهُ بِالنَّاسِ، مَوْصُوفٌ بِالْآيَاتِ، مَعْرُوفٌ بِالْعَلَامَاتِ، لَايَجُورُ فِي حُكْمِهِ، ذلِكَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلهَ إِلَّا هُوَ.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):

A man came to Imam al-Baqir (as) and asked, ‘O abu Ja’far, who do you worship?’ The Imam replied, ‘I worship Allah, the Most High.’ He then asked, ‘Have you seen Him?’ The Imam then said, ‘Eyes do not see Him by looking with the sights; it is the hearts that behold Him with the realities of faith. He is not known by analogy or through the senses nor is He to be compared with people. He is described and known through His signs [manifest in His creation]. He does not do injustice in His judgment. Thus is Allah; there is no god except Him.'

Abū Jaʿfar, Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb b. Isḥāq al-Kulaynī Al-Rāzī (Arabic: ابوجعفر، محمّد بن یعقوب بن اسحاق الرازی) (c. 255/868-9 - 329/941) was among the greatest Shi'a hadith scholars and the author of al-Kafi, the most authentic Shi'a hadith collection and one the Four Books. He was born after the martyrdom of Imam al-'Askari (a), at the time of Imam al-Mahdi (a) and met some hadith transmitters who directly had heard hadiths from Imam al-Hadi (a) and Imam al-'Askari (a). It is said that al-Kulayni was very accurate in transmitting hadiths. Ibn Qulawayh, Muhammad b. Ali Majilawayh al-Qummi, Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Zurari were among his students.
