الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
إن جَعَلتَ دِينَكَ تَبَعاً لِدُنياكَ أهلَكتَ دينَكَ وَ دُنياكَ وَ كُنتَ في الآخرةِ مِن الخاسِرينَ، إن جَعَلتَ دُنياكَ تَبَعاً لِدينِكَ أحرَزْتَ دِينَكَ وَ دُنياكَ وَ كُنتَ في الآخرةِ مِن الفائزينَ.
If you make your religion secondary to your worldly affairs, you have destroyed both your religion and your worldly affairs, and thus you will be among the losers in the Hereafter. But if you make your worldly affairs secondary to your religion, you have safeguarded your religion and your worldly affairs and you will be among the victorious ones in the Hereafter.

The author of this book is Nasih al-Din Abu l-Fath 'Abd al-Wahid b. Muhammad b. 'Abd al-Wahid Tamimi al-Amidi (d. 510/1116-7)[1]. Very little is known about his life apart from that he was a judge from Amid (now Diyarbakır, Turkey).[2] He has written another book called Jawahir al-kalam fi al-hukm wa al-ahkam min qissat sayyid al-anam.
