الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
أَكْبَرُ الْحُمْقِ الْإِغْرَاقُ فِي الْمَدْحِ وَ الذَّمِّ .

The greatest stupidity is one's exaggeration in his praising and disparaging [of others].

The author of this book is Nasih al-Din Abu l-Fath 'Abd al-Wahid b. Muhammad b. 'Abd al-Wahid Tamimi al-Amidi (d. 510/1116-7)[1]. Very little is known about his life apart from that he was a judge from Amid (now Diyarbakır, Turkey).[2] He has written another book called Jawahir al-kalam fi al-hukm wa al-ahkam min qissat sayyid al-anam.

Abul Hasan Kafi al-Din Ali bin Muhammad bin Hasan bin Laithi Wasti, preacher, poet, one of the scholars of the 6th century, author of the book Ayun al-Hakm wa al-Mawazi. Allameh Majlisi says in volume 78 of Bihar al-Anwar: Sheikh Ali bin Muhammad Laithi Wasti has given the words of Amir al-Mu'minin (a.s.) and the words of the rest of the Imams of Athar (a.s.) in the book Aiyun al-Hikam wa al-Wa'iz and Zokharah al-Mu'taaz wa al-Wa'iz.
