Imam Ali (as):
A time like a gnashing camel will come upon the people, when the rich will grip onto their wealth by their teeth, even though they have been commanded otherwise, for God has said, «Do not forget to be generous to one another». At this time, the wicked will rise, while the virtuous will be humiliated, and the helpless will be forced to sell their goods for a pittance despite the prohibition by God’s Messenger.

Imam Ali (as):
Miserliness contains all other evil vices and is the rein with which one can be led to every evil.

Imam Ali (as):
He who is stingy towards his own self refusing to send ahead any good [for his afterlife] and instead, leaves it to his heirs has lost divine succor and gained nothing but loss.

Imam Ali (as):
Beware of avarice, for it brings about hatred, tarnishes one's virtues and spreads one's vices.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
The most miserly person is the one who is miserly with the greeting of peace [he does not greet others], and the most open-handed of people is he who gives freely of himself and his wealth in the way of Allah.
