الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
مُرِ الصَّبيَّ فلْيَتَصدَّقْ بيدِهِ بالكِسْرةِ و القَبْضةِ و الشَّيءِ و إنْ قَلَّ ، فإنَّ كلَّ شيءٍ يُرادُ بهِ اللّهُ ـ و إنْ قَلَّ ـ بعدَ أنْ تَصدُقَ النِّيّةُ فيهِ عظيمٌ .
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
Instruct the child to give charity with his own hand, be it a piece of bread or a handful of [food] or any other small thing, for everything - no matter how little it is - if done for the sake of Allah and with an honest intention is great.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
صَديقُ كُلِّ امرِئٍ عَقلُهُ و عَدُوُّهُ جَهلُهُ .
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
The friend of every person is his intellect and his enemy is his ignorance.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
الإمامُ : المُطَهَّرُ مِنَ الذُّنوبِ ، و المُبَرَّأُ عَنِ العُيوبِ .
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
An Imam is one who is purified from sins, immune from all flaws.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
الإمامُ الرِّضا عليه السلام ـ لَمّا سَألَهُ يُونسُ عَنِ اليَقينِ ـ : التَّوكُّلُ علَى اللّهِ ، و التَّسليمُ للّهِ ، و الرِّضا بِقَضاءِ اللّهِ ، و التَّفْويضُ إلى اللّهِ .
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
When Yonus asked him about conviction, Imam al-Rida (as) said: [It is] Trust in Allah, submission to Allah, satisfaction with Allah’s decree, and handing over [one’s affairs] to Allah.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
الإيمانُ فَوقَ الإسلامِ بدَرَجَةٍ ، و التَّقوى فَوقَ الإيمانِ بدَرَجَةٍ ، و اليَقينُ فَوقَ التَّقوى بدَرَجَةٍ ، و لَم يُقسَمْ بَينَ العِبادِ شيءٌ أقَلُّ مِن اليَقينِ .
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
Faith is one degree higher than Islam [in rank], God wariness (Taqwa) is one degree higher than faith, and conviction is one degree higher than God wariness, and nothing has been distributed among people less than conviction.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
التَّواضُعُ أن تُعطِيَ النّاسَ ما تُحِبُّ أن تُعطاهُ .
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
Humbleness is to give to people what you yourself like to be given.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
قَالَ عِيسَى بْنُ مَرْيَمَ- صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ- لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ: يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، لَاتَأْسَوْا عَلى‏ مَا فَاتَكُمْ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا، كَمَا لَايَأْسى‏ أَهْلُ الدُّنْيَا عَلى‏ مَا فَاتَهُمْ مِنْ دِينِهِمْ‏ إِذَا أَصَابُوا دُنْيَاهُمْ
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
Prophet Jesus (as) said to his deciples: O children of Israel, do not grieve over what has escaped you of the world, just as the prople of the world do not grieve over what they lose of their faith as long as they attain to their world.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
مَثَلُ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ مَثَلُ وَرَقٍ عَلى‏ شَجَرَةٍ تُحَرَّكُ‏ فَيَتَنَاثَرُ، وَ الْمُسْتَغْفِرُ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ وَ يَفْعَلُهُ‏ كَالْمُسْتَهْزِئِ بِرَبِّهِ.
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
The similitude of seeking forgiveness is that of a leaf falling from the tree when shaken. And someone who seeks forgiveness but still commits the sin is like one who is mocking his Lord.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
كُلَّمَا أَحْدَثَ الْعِبَادُ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ مَا لَمْ يَكُونُوا يَعْمَلُونَ، أَحْدَثَ اللَّهُ‏ لَهُمْ مِنَ الْبَلَاءِ مَا لَمْ يَكُونُوا يَعْرِفُونَ‏.
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
Whenever people come up with new sins that they did not use to commit, Allah afflicts them with misfortunes they did not previously know.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
قُلْتُ لِأَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا عليه السلام: أَدْعُو لِوَالِدَيَّ إِذَا كَانَا لَايَعْرِفَانِ الْحَقَّ؟ قَالَ:ادْعُ لَهُمَا، وَ تَصَدَّقْ عَنْهُمَا، وَ إِنْ كَانَا حَيَّيْنِ لَايَعْرِفَانِ الْحَقَّ فَدَارِهِمَا ؛ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله قَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَعَثَنِي بِالرَّحْمَةِ، لَابِالْعُقُوقِ‏.
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
I said to Imam al-Ridha (as), Can I pray for my parents who do not know the right course [they are not Shia]? The Imam said, Pray for them and give charity on their behalf [if they are dead], and if they are alive and do not know the right course then be tolerant with them, as the prophet said, Verily Allah sent me with [the message of] mercy, not with insolence [to one's parents].
