Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
When you sit in the company of a scholar, be more eager to listen [to his words of wisdom] than to speak. And learn effective listening just as you learn good speech. And do not interrupt someone while they are speaking.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
You might think that the prophet spent three consecutive days having eaten to his full since the time Allah mandated him with prophethood until He seized his soul. No, by Allah, he was never satiated for three consecutive days eversince he was commissioned with prophethood until he was taken [to his Lord]. It was not because he did not have access to enough food; he would, sometimes, reward a person with one hundred camels; so had he wanted, he could have eaten.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
God Almighty has not created any creature dearer to Him than the believer, for the angels are the servants of the believers.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
There are three things regarding which Allah, the Exalted, did not allow any flexibility: returning a trust to its owner, be he good or wicked; keeping one's pact with both the good and the wicked; and kindness to one's parents whether they be good or wicked.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
The believer is harder than a mountain, for the mountain is dispensable whereas nothing can be taken away from a believer’s religion.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
If the Imam was to ever be removed from the earth even for an instant, the whole earth would tremble its inhabitants the way the ocean trembles with those who are on it.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
When one of you wants to walk a few miles, he seeks a guide for himself; and you are more unfamiliar with the ways of the heavens than the ways of the earth, so seek out a guide for yourself.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
One who subjects himself to the worship of Allah, Mighty and Exalted, exerting himself in it, while not following an Imam endorsed by Allah, his efforts are not accepted and he is a deviated confused person and Allah despises his deeds, and his example is that of a sheep that has lost its shepherd and herd.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
The Prophet (s) said: 'He has no faith in me who sleeps the night satiated while his neighbour is hungry.' He has also said: 'No sooner do the people in a village sleep at night while there is someone in their midst who is hungry than Allah will not look at them on the Day of Resurrection.'
