أيْ بُنَيَّ، اصبِرْ على الحقِّ وإنْ كانَ مُرّا.

O my son! Endure the truth even if it be bitter.

لَحَديثٌ واحِدٌ تأخُذُهُ عن صادِقٍ خَيرٌ لَكَ من الدُّنيا و ما فِيها.

Indeed one true tradition (Hadith) that you receive from a truthful person is better for you than the whole world and all that it contains.

الإمام محمد الباقر (عليه السَّلام):
الجَنّةُ مَحفوفةٌ بالمَكارِهِ و الصَّبرِ، فمَن صَبرَ على المَكارِهِ في الدُّنيا دَخلَ الجَنّةَ. وجَهنّمُ مَحفوفةٌ باللَّذّاتِ والشَّهَواتِ، فمَن أعطى نَفْسَهُ لَذَّتَها و شَهْوَتَها دَخلَ النّارَ.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Paradise is surrounded by trials and patience. So whoever endures trials in the world will enter Paradise. Hell is surrounded by pleasures and [lustful] desires. Thus, whoever allows himself its pleasures and desires [of the world] will enter the Fire.

في تَبْيينِ عَلَامةِ الإمامِ: طَهارَةُ الوِلادَةِ وحُسْنُ المَنْشأ، ولا يَلْهو ولا يَلْعبُ.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Imam al-Baqir (as), explaining the traits of the Imam, said, [He must be] of legitimate birth and well-bred, he neither gets distracted nor does he play around.

لَو أنّ الإمامَ رُفِعَ مِنَ الأرضِ ساعةً لَماجَتْ بأهْلِها كَما يَمُوجُ البَحْرُ بأهلِهِ.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
If the Imam was to ever be removed from the earth even for an instant, the whole earth would shake its inhabitants the way a turbulent ocean shakes those who are on it.

Beware of procrastination for verily it is the sea in which losers drown.

تَزاوَرُوا في بيوتِكُم فإنّ ذلكَ حَياةٌ لِأمرِنا، رَحِمَ اللّهُ عَبدا أحيا أمرَنا.

Pay visits to each other in your homes for verily that is a reviving of our teachings. May Allah have mercy on a servant who revives our teachings.

الإمام محمد الباقر (عليه السَّلام):
لمّا سَألَهُ زرارةُ عن الرَّجُلِ يَعمَلُ الشي ءَ مِن الخَيرِ فَيَراهُ إنسانٌ فَيَسُرُّهُ ذلكَ: لا بَأسَ، ما مِن أحدٍ إلّا و هُو يُحِبُّ أن يَظهَرَ لَهُ في الناسِ الخَيرُ، إذا لَم يَكُن صَنَعَ ذلكَ لذلكَ.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Imam al-Baqir (as) was once asked by his companion Zurara, about a man who performs a good deed which someone happens to see, as a result of which he feels good and happy. Imam replied, It it is alright as long as he did not [originally] perform the action for that purpose. Everyone naturally wants their good deeds to be seen by people.

في التَّوراةِ مَكتوبٌ: ... يا موسى ... اذكُرْني في خَلَواتِكَ وعِندَ سُرورِ لَذَّتِكَ أذكُرْكَ عِندَ غَفَلاتِكَ.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
It is written in the Torah: ...O Moses... remember Me in times of loneliness and when enjoying your pleasures and I will remember you in your times of negligence.
