الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
الإمامةُ هِيَ النُّورُ ، و ذلكَ قولُهُ عزّ و جلّ: «آمِنُوا باللّهِ وَ رَسُولِهِ و النُّورِ الّذي أنْزَلْنا» ، قالَ : النُّورُ هُوَ الإمامُ .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
Imamate is the light, and that is the purport of His saying [in the Qur'an]: "So have faith in Allah and His Apostle and the light which We have sent down". He (as) said, 'The light is the Imam.

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
أقِرُّوا الحَارَّ حَتّى يَبْرَدَ ، فإنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله قُرِّبَ إلَيْهِ طَعَامٌ حَارٌّ فَقَالَ : أقِرُّوهُ حَتَّى يَبْرَدَ ، مَا كَانَ اللّهُ عزّ و جلّ لِيُطْعِمَنَـا النَّـارَ ، وَ البَرَكَةُ فِي البَارِدِ .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
Set hot food aside until it cools down, for when the Prophet (s) was given hot food, he said, 'Set it aside until it cools down, for Allah, Mighty and Exalted, would not feed us fire when blessings lie with that which is cool.

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
ليسَ حُسنُ الجِوارِ كَفَّ الأذى ، و لكنْ حُسنُ الجِوارِ الصّبرُ على الأذى .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
Neighbourliness is not only to desist from annoying [one's neighbour], but also to forbear annoyance [from him].

الرِّفقُ نِصفُ العَيشِ .

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
مَن طَلَبَ هذا الرِّزقَ مِن حِلِّهِ لِيَعودَ بهِ عَلى نفسِهِ و عِيالِهِ كانَ كالمُجاهِدِ في سبيلِ اللّهِ عزّ و جلّ ، فإن غَلَبَ علَيهِ فَلْيَستَدِنْ عَلَى اللّهِ و عَلى رسولِهِ صلى الله عليه و آله ما يَقوتُ بهِ عِيالَهُ .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
One who seeks to gain sustenance for himself and his family in a lawful manner is as the one who fights in the way of Allah. But if he is unable to do so, he may incur debt, trusting in Allah and His Prophet, in order to ensure provisions for his family.

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
لَيسَ الحِميةُ أن تَدَعَ الشيءَ أصلاً لا تَأكُلَهُ، و لكنَّ الحِميَةَ أن تَأكُلَ مِنَ الشيءِ و تُخَفِّفَ .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
Diet control is not to avoid eating absolutely anything, rather diet control is to eat lightly.

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
لَيسَ مِن دواءٍ إلاّ و هو يُهَيِّجُ داءً ، و ليسَ شيءٌ في البَدنِ أنفَعَ مِن إمساكِ اليدِ إلاّ عمّا يَحتاجُ إلَيهِ .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
There is no medicine except that it exacerbates another ailment, and there is nothing more beneficial to the body than self-restraint from all except that which the body needs.

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
الكافي عن عُمَرَ بنِ يَزيد : سَمِعتُ أبا الحَسَنِ عليه السلام يَقولُ : إنَّ الدُّعاءَ يَرُدُّ ما قَد قُدِّرَ وَ ما لَم يُقَدَّرْ ، قُلتُ : وَ ما قَد قُدِّرَ عَرَفتُهُ فَما لَم يُقَدَّرْ ؟ قالَ : حَتّى لا يَكُونَ .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
I heard Imam al-Kazim (as) saying, Verily supplication wards off what has been decreed and what is yet to be decreed. I said, I understood what has been decreed, but how doe’s supplication ward off something that has not even been decreed yet? The Imam replied, So that it is not decreed.

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
عَلَيكُم بِالدُّعاءِ ، فَإنَّ الدُّعاءَ للّهِِ ، وَ الطَّلَبَ إلى اللّهِ يَرُدُّ البَلاءَ وَ قَد قُدِّرَ وَ قُضِيَ وَ لَم يَبقَ إلاّ إمضاؤهُ ، فإِذا دُعِيَ اللّهُ عزّ و جلّ و سُئلَ صَرْفَ البَلاءِ صَرَفَهُ .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
I urge you to supplicate, for verily supplication to Allah and seeking from Allah repels calamity which may have been destined and decreed with just the execution remaining, so if Allah is supplicated and is asked to avert a calamity, it is averted.

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
لا يَنبَغِي للرَّجُلِ أن يَدَعَ الطِّيبَ في كُلِّ يَومٍ، فإن لَم يَقدِرْ علَيهِ فَيَومٌ و يَومٌ لا، فإن لَم يَقدِرْ ففي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ و لا يَدَعْ .
Imam al-Kazim (as):
Man should not leave one day without perfuming himself, and if he is not able to do that, then he should perfume himself every other day, and if he cannot do that, then he should do so every Friday without fail.
