The High Status of the Holy Qur'an

In the whole world no book can rival the Holy Quran in its virtues and high status, because it is the summary and extract of the teachings of all divine prophets. We can even say it is higher than all creatures. The Prophet of Islam (PBUH) said:

The Quran is higher than everything except God. 1

God Almighty talks to man through the Quran. A wise man would never want to be separated from the Quran because it is his road map towards eternal happiness.

The Quran is superior to other divine books, because they were revealed for a specific period of time and for a special group of people. But the Quran was revealed for all times till the Day of Judgment and for all people in all places. Not only the Quran is a book of guidance for human beings but it is also the proof of God on other than humans like the Jinn and they are obliged to follow its decrees. The Quran is the best speech and is the best gift of God to man. In chapter al-Rahman, teaching the Quran to man has been mentioned before the gift of creating man and teaching him to speak. 3 It shows how high the position of the Quran is. God Almighty talks to man through the Quran. A wise man would never want to be separated from the Quran because it is his road map towards eternal happiness.

The same way that an addict does not enjoy the taste of a delicious food and drinks and enjoys the taste of that toxicant he uses, one who has poisoned his sound spiritual taste will not find delight in reciting the Quran, because the sins prevent him from feeling gratified when he recites the Quran or listens to it.

If the eyes and the ears want pleasure, so why wouldn't one give them that pleasure through looking at and listening to the divine verses of the Quran rather than engaging with looking at what is Haram and listening to what is forbidden? If it becomes clear for man that the Quran is the speech of God and His conversation with man, they why wouldn't he be eager to spend time reciting it and pondering upon its verses.

That is because one who has ruined his taste by sins will not understand the mellifluence and lusciousness of the verses of the Quran.

Every individual who wants felicity and bliss in this world and the other, should purify his soul. Indeed, the Quran itself helps in this regard. The Prophet (PBUH) said:

Verily these hearts rust like iron that rusts, and reciting the Quran removes their rust. 4 So, whoever desires to achieve perfection should live with the Quran by reciting it and acting according to its enlightening verses." 5
