The fact that Sadaqa [charity] and good works in general cure one's spiritual diseases is somehow clear and does not need any explanation, but how does Sadaqa (charity) cure one's physical sickness? We do experience in our lives that giving charity helps one recover even from a physical sickness, but how does that happen? what is the link between giving charity and recovering from a sickness? One answer could be that God Almighty is the real curer of all diseases such that even medicines have their effects with the permission of God and when God finds that a sick person is so kind as to sincerely help the needy in the midst of his sickness and pain, He bestows His mercy upon him and relieves him of his sickness. In addition, one's giving Sadaqa with the intention of getting closer to Almighty God, helps him clean his heart and soul from any type of moral vices and obtain sincerity and tenderness in his heart which in turn make his prayers more likely to be answered by God, so when he prays in such a state for his well-being, Allah responds to his prayer and relieves him of his sickness.
