الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
المؤمنُ بِشْرُهُ في وجهِهِ، و حُزنُهُ في قلبِهِ، أوسَعُ شَيءٍ صَدْرا، و أذَلُّ شَي ءٍ نَفْسا، يَكْرَهُ الرِّفْعةَ، و يَشْنَأُ السُّمْعةَ، طويلٌ غمُّهُ، بَعيدٌ هَمُّهُ، كثيرٌ صَمتُهُ، مَشغولٌ وقتُهُ، شَكورٌ، صَبورٌ، مَغمورٌ بفِكرَتِهِ، ضَنينٌ بخَلّتِهِ، سَهلُ الخَليقةِ، لَيِّنُ العَرِيكةِ، نَفسُهُ أصْلَبُ مِن الصَّلْدِ، و هُو أذَلُّ مِن العبدِ.

Le croyant est tel que sa joie apparaît sur son visage alors que sa tristesse est dans son cœur. Sa poitrine est la plus vaste [son cœur est le plus grand], son âme est la plus humble. Il déteste les hauts rangs [de ce monde] et fuit la renommée. Sa tristesse est durable et son aspiration, élevée. Son silence est grand et son temps occupé. Il est reconnaissant, d une grande patience, immergé dans ses pensées, parcimonieux dans ses besoins. Il est facile de caractère et de tempérament doux. Son âme est plus solide que l acier alors qu il est plus humble qu un esclave.

Abū l-Ḥasan Muḥammad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Mūsawī (Arabic: أبوالحسن محمد بن الحسین الموسوي) (b. 359/969-70 - d. Muharram 6, 406/June 26, 1015) al-Sharīf al-Raḍī (Arabic: الشريف الرضي) was a prominent Shi'a scholar and poet born in Baghdad. Although he is most known for his literary expertise, he was also an expert of jurisprudence and exegesis of the Quran. His most famous work is Nahj al-Balagha, a collection of Imam Ali's (a) sayings and letters. He founded a school named Dar al-'Ilm ( دار العلم, literally "House of knowledge") in which he trained many students, some of whom later became prominent scholars.
